Refund Policy
Last updated: July 2026 · Version 1.0
This page explains when and how you get your money back on fair-do: for individual lessons, for monthly subscriptions, and for gift vouchers. If something has gone wrong, we would much rather sort a refund with you directly than have you dispute the payment with your card provider. Email us first at support@fair-do.com.
1. Lessons and bookings
Each tutor sets their own cancellation policy, and it is shown to you on the booking page before you pay. It has two parts: a cancellation window and a late-cancellation rate.
- Cancel in good time, full refund. If you cancel at least as far ahead as the tutor's cancellation window (tutors set this to 24, 48 or 72 hours before the lesson), you receive a full refund.
- Cancel late.If you cancel inside that window, the tutor's late-cancellation rate applies. Depending on the tutor, that is a full refund, a 50% refund, or no refund. The exact figure for your tutor is shown when you book.
- If the tutor cancels. A lesson cancelled by the tutor is always fully refunded, whenever it happens. You are never left out of pocket for a change the tutor makes.
Refunds go back to the original payment method. Card payments are refunded to your card and typically appear within 5 to 10 business days. Where a lesson was paid from account credit (for example a redeemed gift voucher or a referral reward) or from a school credit pool, that balance is restored immediately so you can use it again.
2. Subscriptions
Monthly subscriptions, including a tutor's Pro or Team plan and the parent portal at £4.99 per month, renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid month: you keep access until then, and you are not billed again. We do not give partial refunds for the remainder of a month that has already started.
3. Gift vouchers
Gift vouchers are non-refundable. Once bought, a voucher cannot be returned for cash, but it never goes to waste: vouchers do not expire. When the recipient redeems the code, the amount is added to their fair-do account as lesson credit, which is then applied automatically to their bookings. If a lesson paid with that credit is later refunded, the credit returns to the account balance as set out in section 1.
4. How to request a refund
For a lesson, use the Canceloption on the lesson itself: any refund due under your tutor's policy is worked out and issued automatically. To cancel a subscription, use the billing settings in your account.
If anything looks wrong, or you think you are owed a refund that has not come through, contact us at support@fair-do.com and we will put it right. We would always rather resolve a refund with you directly than see you raise a card dispute, so please give us the chance first.
5. Your statutory rights
Nothing in this policy affects any refund or cancellation rights you have under UK consumer law. This policy sits alongside our Terms of Service.
